Linux (17/10/2023)
This training session on two days (09:00 / 17 :00) is organized by the Genotoul bioinfo platform and aims at learning sequence analysis. This training session has been designed to familiarize yourself with the platform resources and its organization. You will learn to access the platform from your workstation, what is an Linux environment and how to use it, how to create and manipulate files, how to transfer them from and to your personal computer.

This training is focused on practice. It consists of a large variety of exercises:
- Connect to « genobioinfo » server : platform presentation, Linux basics, ssh client installation, connect
- Files and basics commands : types of files, permissions, file system navigation, file manipulation, text editors and viewers, disk space management
- Manage files : download, transfert, compress, uncompress, archive
- Utility commands : describe file content, search, replace, differences
- Redirections operators
- Manage processes
- Environnements : shell, variables, modules
- Basic script

The session will take place in the room ‘salle de formation MIAT’ at the INRAE center of Toulouse-Auzeville, Building C8.

Prerequisites: Training materials will be available on the website before the session. Slides in a “taking notes” format will be downloadable from our web site. A Unix reference command leaflet will also be provided. Only the latter will be available during the session.
