Sequences alignment and phylogeny (16/08/2016)
This training session is organized by the bios4Biol CATI and the Genotoul bioinfo platform and aims at initiating participants to molecular phylogenetics studies. You will discover how to build a sequence dataset, to align sequences, to edit and refine the resulting alignment.
This training is focused on the practice. It consists of 4 modules with a large variety of exercises:
- Introduction (09:00 am to 12:30 am): history of phylogeny. Aims and interest of phylogeny.
- Dataset construction (09:00 am to 12:30 am): homology definition. RBH definition.
- Alignment by pair (09:00 am to 12:30 am): dotplot. Substitution matrix. Score definition. Alignment methods.
- Multiple alignment (14:00 pm to 17:00 pm): alignment methods. Editing.
The session will take place in the room ‘salle de formation’ at INRA center of Toulouse-Auzeville.
